Ivy City [#68]

Right along New York Avenue NE, the second busiest street of DC, lies one of the city’s most polluted and neglected neighborhoods, Ivy City. Despite numerous companies entering the area, revitalizing the commercial scene, many of the locals remain isolated by the lack of transportation, food options or even schools. In the picture, an old time neighbor looks back with nostalgia while he crosses the bridge above the Ivy City Yard.

About the artist:

Carlos Carmonamedina studied Fine Arts in Mexico and Romania. His artwork, which combines his love for travel, bicycles, food, old cameras and comics has been featured in many exhibitions around the world.

After living in Europe for 7 years, he is now settled in Washington DC, where he works as an illustrator and graphic designer.
