DC War Memorial [#144]
Standing out from the green trees in West Potomac Park is the only District memorial in the National Mall: the D.C. War memorial dedicated to the 499 Washington residents who died in service during World War I. The circular, open-air domed structure, was designed by architect Frederick H. Brooke, and is large enough to accommodate the entire U.S. Marine Band.
