Carousel on the National Mall [#142]
Built by the Allen Herschell Company in 1947 for the Gwynn Oak amusement park near Baltimore, the Carousel in the National Mall is one of a kind. Located in front of the Smithsonian’s Art and Industries Building, this carousel has all its horses jumping, four abreast. A Sea Dragon was added in 1996, and has proven to be one of the most popular seats.
