π Change is the Only Constant: DC is my City Gets a Refresh! β¨
The old phrase "change is the only constant" has rung true for me over the past few years as I've navigated the winding paths of my artistic transformation. In this process, I've been slowly shaping myself into the artist I want to be βa transformation disrupted by the ever-present demands of raising two little ones.
To separate my more spontaneous and experimental art from the pieces I wanted to share with you, I started The Culture Curious. At that time I began crafting my illustrations using a carefully curated color palette, drawing inspiration from the xerox-like Risograph printing technique.
Limiting my color choices helped streamline my process, giving my work a more consistent look. The self-imposed rules: use no more than 3 colors from a limited palette of 8, explore their combinations, and complement with lines and textures.
It's been a long labor of love, and I am finally comfortable with where my illustration is heading...But what about my older artwork, like the beloved "DC is my City" series? Well, after much deliberation, I opted to breathe new life into these pieces by integrating them into the new series (and fear not,Β the original illustrations will still be available under the "archive" tab).
Consider this a soft launch β a tantalizing teaser, if you will β of what's in store for our next newsletter, where I'll unveil the brand-new shop and tons of new prints like these at TheCultureCurious.com β¨
As always, thank you for reading. Stay curious!
