👀 From Dining Table to Market Stall: How My 6-Year-Old Became a Sold-Out Artist ✨

I recently spotted posters promoting a Winter Market at a neighbor's house. In this moment of nonsensical world events, I was thrilled about the opportunity to connect with neighbors and forge real, meaningful bonds. Although I've been hesitant to participate in markets due to the challenge of transporting my stuff without a car, this one was just down the street, so my excuses dwindled —except for my Saturday morning childcare duties.

But the more I pondered the idea, the more it made sense to invite my daughter Tolosa to join me as a vendor. Every parent claims their kids are talented, but this one is truly something else. She creates 2-3 projects simultaneously at our dining table, and I can barely keep up with putting away her crafts! Between her fanzines, sculptures, and weaving projects, her creativity is boundless. So I gave her a special task: creating greeting cards for us to sell at the market. We printed and cut them together at home.

Last year, I refined my core values for both myself and my business. Simplicity, Movement, and Familia emerged as central themes. While I'm not yet ready to put her on the payroll or open an IRA for her, I cherish the chance to nurture her creative spirit and demonstrate that her talent is appreciated by others. And what a success it was: she sold out all her cards and even began selling originals! At just 6 years old, she's more prosperous than I ever was and, more importantly, received love and validation from her neighbors. I’m starting to consider including a line of her cards in my wholesale shop!

The afternoon was lovely and well-organized, giving me the chance to make new friends. These days, everyone is talking about leaving social media—and for good reasons, a reminder of the importance of real community connections. Inspired by this event, I'm eager to organize something similar. Stay tuned for all the details in my next newsletter!
